What was an immediate economic result of the use of mass-production techniques in American factories?

1) increased use of homemade goods

2) reduced cost of goods

3) improved safety conditions

4) expanding membership in labor unions|||I believe it would be 2.

It did not improve safety conditions (it actually increased accidents), so 3 is out.

Union membership did increase later on, because of accidents and job loss, but this was further down the road, so it's not 4.

Increased use of homemade goods was an effect, but this would have happened BECAUSE the cost went down, so that's why I believe 2 would be the first result.
