Laws that protect immediate family member from being a accessory?

I was just wondering if anyone can give me information, is if there are states that insulate immediate family members from punishment. When they aid a criminal after the crime had been committed. I remember a case Ulvinen V State. (Minnesota) which I believe it was the case but not finding any information on it.|||Ulvinen vs. State was an appeal by the mother of a murderer of her own sentence for First Degree Murder for "aiding and abetting." The sentence of guilt was reversed based on the inadmissibility of hearsay regarding statements allegedly made by the victim, who obviously could not testify in court because she was dead.

The Court stated that: " These statements, which were extremely prejudicial, were likely to lead the jury to conclude that the deceased was afraid of her mother-in-law and therefore appellant probably disliked her enough to kill her. The admission of these statements was prejudicial error which would normally require a new trial. However, our decision that the evidence is insufficient to support a verdict of first degree murder requires instead that we reverse without remanding for a new trial."

The Court did mention that "She is insulated by statute from guilt as an accomplice after-the-fact for such conduct because of her relation as a parent of the offender. See Minn.Stat. 搂 609.495, subd. 2 (1980)"

I examined this statute and could not find any such provision. Perhaps it has changed in the last 30 years.

Parental immunity doctrine refers to a principle that children cannot sue their parents, and that parents cannot sue their children, for tort claims. I cannot find any information of laws that would grant a parent immunity from a charge of aiding and abetting a child's criminal activity.

The statement made by the Court in Ulvinen is, however, troubling, and indicates that there must be something out there somewhere.|||I don't believe there is any such laws.

There are laws that protect the sanctity of marriage,

in that you cannot be compelled to give testimony

against a spouse.

The recent case of the fugitives from Arizona has been

in the news. The couple was just arrested on Friday,

and on the news they said that the mother was being

charged with aiding a felon.|||your an idiot helping a criminal is a crime

so is lying to the police about knowing where your family member the criminal is

there is no such law that says your protected from punishment because your hiding a criminal

think before you post

its called aiding and abetting
