How does the House of Reps. more closely reflect the immediate feelings of the people than does the Senate?

For what reasons does the House of Representatives more closely reflect the immediate feelings of the people than does the Senate?

Does it have sometime to do with the way they are elected (are they both elected by the people?)

or the number of representatives for each state compared to the senate?

|||Members of the House of Representatives stand for elections every two years, and Senators stand for elections every six years. Plus, in most instances, your Representative serves to a smaller group of people (a district as opposed to an entire state). So House members tend to be a bit more attentive to the needs of their constituents.

Both bodies are elected by popular vote, with the Senate having changed to popular vote due to the 17 amendment in 1913.

But then again, members of both bodies tend to be more attentive to the needs of those who have contributed to them in the past. (The last is my opinion).|||The House represents the people. The Senate represents each State, individually and collectively. Ratification of the 17th Amendment made popular vote by the people the means of selecting Senators. Until that time they were appointed by their State Legislatures and only a few States had advisory elections for the people to indicate their preference to their State Legislature. IMO the 17th Amendment screwed things up and made those in both Chambers have to hustle for re-election funds.
