What is the difference between oxycodone immediate release and sustained-release?

What is the difference between oxycodone immediate release and sustained-release? Does the immediate release work faster? I was prescribed oxycodone immediate release for CTS, and wanted to know if it will "work" fast.|||Yes, the immediate release will work the fastest of the two.


Although it works the fastest the SR lasts longer. So if you are looking for the fastest you are taking the right one!!|||The only difference between immediate release and sustained release is on the pill itself. Its called the time release it is the colored sheet around the pill... the immediate release doesnt have the time release and the sustained release has it so if you suck off the time release it works the same
