What are the benefits of exercising, besides the immediate burning of calories?

This question may sound silly, but what I am trying to get at is: If I eat a hamburger which is 300 calories. Then I go on the treadmill and burn 300 calories. Would it be the same exact thing if I just never ate the burger, and didn't go to the gym? Or does working out do more than just burn the immediate calories?|||it raises metabolism, it tones the body, working out helps you lose inches, it relieves stress, it is a good workout for your heart, it helps keeping you regular|||nope, it doesn't work like that. exercise does not cancel out a junk food diet. humans are no different from any other animal on this planet we are not designed to be sedentary. the human definition of work is different from the biological definition of work. a sedentary lifestyle has nothing but a negative effect on the skeletal system, muscular system, cardiovascular system, cognitive thinking, etc...

how healthy do you think the bird would be if it didn't fly or if the monkey didn't climb or if the horse didn't run? the same applies to all humans.|||That's OK, but you need to eat something AFTER you workout.

Also, doing cardio is lame. You need to lift weights to lose fat and gain muscle. Doing cardio like that tends to eat up muscle, not build it.

A 300 calorie burger before weight training is good - but after you lift, you need to eat your biggest meal of the day.

This WAY too much to go inot here, but I'll sum up:

CARDIO IS CRAP.
