I'm doing a project on the acheivements of Islam and wants to know the immediate impact of the Five Pillars of Faith on Islam.|||i didnt understand what do you mean by immediate impact of the five pillars . from what i have understood how does it help us. then read this
HOPE THIS WILL HELP YOU
AT LEAST SPEND 30 - 40 MINUTES ON MY ANSWER, A REQUEST
i will give you some different answer COMPLETELY INSHALLAH
i dont know if you will convert or not but at least you will have some thing to study
1) you start taking care of your self and respecting your self by
a) by abstaining away from things that harm your body like alcohol, pork. You avoid illegal sexual acts(like masturbation, sexual intercourse with some one other then your spouse). I know many non muslims also dont do it but islam goes one step ahead and tells you the punishment which actually make you away from such stuff. you have a fear of Allah and you awaits for his rewards. I will not lie to you but today i wanted to some bad stuff but i just refrain myself from doing that because of Allah's fear.
b) you pray 5 times a day(no pray takes more than 5 -8 min) now look at the beauty of prayers has following advantage
i) you excercise 5 times a day physically(early in the morning before breakfast and you know the benefit of morning excercise, early afternoon when you are most involved in work and forget about yourself and preparing your system for lunch, late afternoon when you are really tired and want to do some movements due to excessive work and lunch and every thing, in the evening when you reach home before having dinner to proper your digestive system or get ready for dinner and last before sleeping and after dinner) so physically you are always active from the time you wake up till you sleep. please note that these prayers are obligatory and must be done.
ii) you are excercied spirually. like your soul feel so relaxed. i give you one example. like when we are upset we listen to music to soothe our mood(that is actually soothing your soul) and when you are happy you listen to music to get relax. but we muslim are told to pray and thank Allah for every thing whether in despair or in happiness. so that we dont loose our hope in our self when we are upset and consider some one with our self to console us and we dont get too proud for our happiness and we thank Allah so that we dont become selfish and forget other people and consider that every thing is from Allah and he has rewarded us otherwise we were like every one(poor or rich or disabled) you.so that OUR SELF or OUR is the soul we refer to.
HOPE I AM MAKING SENSE SO FAR.
iii) to be relax mentally. like we pray to divert our mind from every happening in our day , what ever that is , work ,leisure, happiness , despair. so that our brain does not get too involved and we forget our self. I recently read that all the waves that are surrounding us, like microwave, radiowave, mobile waves, wireless waves, etc. effects our brain. so when we postrate twice in every prayer we actually earth all those electrones that are affecting our brain. like an electronic equipment is earth to release current , same thing happens when a Muslim prostrate.
so there you go three benefits in prayers that helps a person completely, mentally , physically and spiritually. keeps him fit, mentally strong and does not make him selfish and proud but keep him modest.
look here how we pray this will help you understand my point, beautiful presentation

c) BY FASTING: we muslim fast for several reason. one of the reason is to be modest and pious and understand people who have no food to eat(more than 50 - 60%) or eat very less. so not to get proud and be in our limits and If we are privileged. But that is not the only benefit of fasting. Fasting improves your internal system, makes you strong in all respect, sexually physically and more over teach you patience when there is non availability of food for some hours, like people in Africa eat very little food; Allah forbids if some situation comes. Or if a man desire for sex and has not spouse, so instead of doing illegal sexual activities we are told to fast that really subside our desire for 24 hours. The fast is for only 8 hours. If you ask any muslim recently converted what is the best thing is he liked in Islam he/she would say FASTING and PRAYERS.
See here one more thing to thank Allah that he didn’t make you born in a African poor country, in a poor family, with very little necessities of life. In fact you are born in a modern country with all the luxuries that many people don’t afford so we must thank Allah and help poor.
So fasting benefit in many ways you can watch the numerous benefit of fasting and how it helps you grow as a person as an individual and as a human being.

Due to litmted time and space I would keep my points brief.
OTHER ADVANTAGES:
CHARITY: we are highly recommend to give charity. There are two types of charity in ISLAM
a)One compu|||The Quran was revealed over 23 years as was the basic tenants of the Islamic faith. So you cannot really look at the immediate impact of the five pillars as a whole since they were introduced gradually.
The first was Shahadah, the declaration of faith.By declaring that there was no God but Allah ,Islam instantly delineated itself from the polytheism of the pagans as well as confirming itself as the religion of Adam,Nuh,Ibrahim,Moses and Jesus. It is similiar in nature to Jewish declaration that God is One as in "Hear O Israel,Thy God is One".
The second,Salat serves several purposes. It is hard to describe but salat changes a person, fills you with a sence a peace and a love for Allah. It prevents a person from commiting major sins because a person who is constantly praying and revolving his day around Allah will be less likely to stray.Additionally Muslims stand shoulder to shoulder, ankle to ankle, kings and paupers, blacks, whites, arabs, asians,it doesnt matter we all equally brothers and sisters in the eyes of God and parying together solidifies the bonds of the ummah.
Saum,Fasting- It teaches the believers a necessary sence of patience and gratitide.
Zakat-We believe that it purifies ones wealth. Also consider the socioeconomic impact of every person giving 2.5% of their accumulated wealth to the poor.It bodes well for a healthy community.
Hajj-I personally have not been but Muslims that have gone say they come back feeling a sence of joy, happiness and lightness. In todays world Hajj allows Muslims to connect with each from accross the world fostering the all important sence of ummah. It is another connection to Ibrahim as he and his rebuilt the Kabaah and we imitate the movement of Ismails mother during the Hajj.
A few months before the death of the Prophet,Jibrael came to him while he was sitting with his companions in the form of a man with very white clothing. It is an interesting story if youd care to read it.But he asked the Prophet among other things,What is Islam ? To which he answered the declarating that there is no God but Allah,to establish the salat,to give the zakat,to fast in ramadan and to make the pilgramage. So we see that these actions define us as Muslims and to remove one of them is to enter into Kufr.
The Shia add another pillar-Jihad,which is probably more directly related to the acheivements of the Islamic empire.|||Five daily prayers, fasting during Ramadhan, purifying alms giving, pilgrimage to Mecca and There is nothing worthy of worship except God, and Muhammad is His Messenger.
I am not a follower of Islam but I have many friends who are muslims so I read the Koran four times. I am a born again Christian that believes Jesus is God. But I have research Islam for many years.|||Peace to you, and may God give you light and truth in your speech.
I will try to make this brief, as a convert to Islam I see things simply and also know how bringing Islam into my life affected me.
Pillar 1: Belief- I believe that there is nothing worthy of worship but The One True God, and that Mohammad was sent as the last messenger. This also means I believe in The Book of God, sent in parts to peoples before Mohammad (peace be upon him); all of the Prophets, from Adam to Jesus son of Mary and Mohammad; the angels; the Day of Judgement; and that everything in this life, good and bad is decreed by God.
Pillar 2: Prayer- the formal prayers in which a person takes time out from the earthly life and worships his/her Creator and also the supplication to our Lord, asking for anything and everything that is good for this life and the next. This is the implementation of true belief, because for the one who believes prayer is a precious gift. A chance to make oneself pure and clean and speak to the Lord of all creation.
Pillar 3: Charity- If a person has managed to save more than $2000 over the year and has no debts to pay, then he/she is obligated to give to help feed, clothe, and support the poor, weak, sick, travelling, and others who have not been as fortunate. It purifies our wealth, prevents us from having greed in our hearts, and provides care for those in our society that need it.
Pillar 4: Fasting- another gift to the believer. We spend only the daytime sampling hunger and thirst, and then pray in the night as much as we are able. This softens the heart, reminds us of the blessings we enjoy, increases our appreciation for our wealth of food and water, creates/increases empathy for those who lack food and drink, and helps us turn to our Lord on whom we are completely dependent.
Pillar 5: Hajj or pilgrimage- someday I hope to pay all my debts and be physically and financially able to go and pray at the first House of Worship built by Prophet Abraham and his son Ishmail (peace be upon them). Truly, it would be an amazing and awe-inspiring thing, to know that I could trace the steps of those people of old times who lived with such purity in their hearts.
And there you have Islam in a nutshell... and truly trying my best to live by the high standard set by these pillars have reformed my life and made me (God-willing) a much sweeter, cleaner, and balanced person living with certainty of my purpose.
Please don't hesitate to email me if you have further questions.
