How was the Declaration of Independence a reflection of immediate political circumstances?|||With Ben Franklin's ingenious pitting of France against the British, the colonies were able to 'throw off the yoke' of Great Britain's occupation and commercial exploitation. Franklin had convinced the French to assist in the overthrow of the British occupiers, while George Washington successfully led the Revolutionary Army. This enabled France to claim and occupy a large parcel of Canada whille the Brits were occupied The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France, in 1876, celebrating 100 year of this ongoing symbiotic relationship.|||It reflected the current business relationship between England and the American colonies
